Apparently it punches hard. Really hard. But has a bit of an appetite for power when compared to the 5770. Otherwise its in the same league. Just the bit faster that a new architecture would let it be. It's priced the same and its new, so prices should drop on both sides. The 460 is faster, but I can't tell you precisely how much, as I have 0 exp with the 460. From what I've heard, there is currently little reason for you to buy a 5770 if you can manage to get hold of a 460. And they scale VERY well in multi GPU setups.
Just my R0.2

I already have a 5770 and it kicks serious butt just wondering if it was worth it to buy the 460 or to get another 5770??

The gtx460 768mb is about on par with a 5830. The 1gb version is slower than 5850 but not by a whole lot. This is a serious price/performance card right now. GF104 is the best thing Nvidia has done for a long time.

If you read the review on Benchmarkreview the GTX460 is seriously fast. When overclocked it EQUALS the frame rate of the 5870 in AvP in DX11...that is seriously fast for a card priced at half the 5870...
Well done Nvidia. You are now slowly yet surely fixing the immense cock-up that is the 100 architecture. 104 looks good. Here's hoping you guys soup up the GTX480 as well and sort it's ridiculous heat issues.

problem with this card is that its price in SA doesnt make it worth it ... i believe it was R3k for the 1gb version on prophecy

Of course it is worth it! You buy a R3K card that can OC and match a card that is R1.5K above it. Better than the current 465 and then the 470.

not everyone wants to overclock the (censored) out of their hardware hence not worth it ... once the local market drops their prices on the card then maybe but right now it isnt
