Hi All,
I am busy with the schedule and sign-ups for competitions for this year.
Our plans are as follows:
2 seasons, comprising of 6 months each ( 1 year = 12 / 2 obviously ) with each event having up to a maximum of 3 tournaments.(Yes I know we have already reached JAN, but yeah times are busy)
As such, we have a possibility for a total of 6 different games, or 3 games being repeated for Season 1 and 2.
At this time, the sponsors for COD4 and DOTA are already keen to sign on the dotted line.
However I have had interest from many other parties to sponsor and run tournaments. This means more prizes for all of you competitive and semi-competitive gamers.
For your convenience, we are labelling the tournaments as Professional and Amatuer. The difference at this time being mostly the prize type, Pro's receiving CASH prizes, and amatuer receiving product.
To make this a reality I need tournament admins, and suggestions on the games to be played.
Tournament admins must be able to conduct the tournament, which means knowing the rules of the game, co-ordinating the teams/players into structured fashions of either elimination or round robin as the tournament may dictate, being able to communicate with players and resolve any issues. Most importantly the tournament admin needs to keep the records, be able to handle the prize giving in conjunction with myself at prize giving and hopefully be involved in that cummunity.
The tourney admin will need to be sitting at the admin area so that gamers have a central place to come and report at, and will be remunerated for their time at the LAN as long as they deliver results. I can take on more tournament admins than there are tournaments, however only the one that is conducting the tournament at this time will be paid. This may be needed for if the tourney admin cannot attend every LAN.
So then the next question is... What games?
COD4 , DOTA, UT3, TF2, DOW, CNC3... moar suggestions please.
COD4 and DOTA is already spoken for...
Edit: I have added poll options as suggested by eksi. You may vote for two seperate games. More games may be added if suggested - jimz0r

Definitely a Tekken tournament. Without a doubt. We have seen there's more than enough interest, its entertaining to watch and really easy to manage.

I suggest 1 pro league for each season and 2 amatuer leagues.
Make the pro leagues COD4 and DOTA as those are the most competitive games by far.
My suggestions for amatuer leagues are: - Unreal Tournament 3, the underdog FPS. - Trackmania, loved-by-all racer. - Supreme Commander or CnC3, otherwise RTS fans (yes you Zephon) will moan. - Team Fortress 2, because that game ROCKS!
Also may I suggest, Treath, that you add all the games suggested to a poll on this topic so we can get a clear indication of what the community wants.

Well. Some FFA games are also nice. Tekken is ftw epic fun tourneys. And id like to play warhammer Soulstorm again lol
UT is okay i guess but not much room for newcomers to make a finals placing unless they are very skilled. Noobs wil also get pawnt.
TF2 would be cool but very few ppl play it online that also attend OC. So it wont be as competetive as the cod. Which is dominated by two teams. But still its epic and we want! Making teams is gona be a lil hard. But liek can be sorted by adding randoms if there are persons short.
A cod FFA tourney wil be fun too!
But like bring back the Soulstorm :< CnC is bleh and SupCom is :S WARHAMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As much as I love supcom I would hate to live with the good old SPAM ME MORE 1-2hour games.
Through experience of running these tournies.
C&C3 great game but GLitch aholic! Tooo many version problems and orders... just was too much hell to run. You have to do 4 hour before tourney pre checks to see the game works and somtimes it works but the computer can't see a certain game.
Tekken... It speaks for it self. Great community, lots of places to practice as the tekken guys jam in Durbanville, Rondebosch and Gardens so reaaaallllyyyy easy access to practice with them. + THEY LOVE NEW BLOOD AND mentor you np. (you get good suppa fast).
Dawn of War is simple to run etc.
Company of heroes maybe? Never played it though.
.. we all know UT and its pretty easy to get good at. Pros are not that pro as Nadcrab was taken over by a player in one month.
On a voting system though. You have to take note. No Tekken guys use this forum but TONs play tekken.

True as that may be, the forum is OC's main feedback source and communication link to the community. The tekken guys can come cast a vote, it takes 2 seconds. Spread the word of mouth.
